The CANA Health Centre provides free consultations and laboratory tests for Mukuru residents. Patients who test positive for HIV/AIDS are referred to local hospitals where they can receive free antiretroviral therapy (ART). Medications for treating the opportunistic infections from HIV/AIDS related illnesses are also provided at the CANA health centre, free of charge. To ensure that the HIV/AIDS patients are receiving proper care and nutrition, CANA's medical staff and social workers monitor each patient's progress via our Home Based Care Program. CANA's success is not limited to the care received by the HIV/AIDS patients - they have also radically increased awareness of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment within the community.
